God has a mother
By Abba Jimmy ( Theoloscience )
Dear people of all nations and times, we, men, and women of the past, present, and future, know that God became man in a woman’s womb. God indeed became a man, and to become a man, he chose a woman. A human being. That is why we can say she is one of ours. And because God became man in a woman’s womb, she is God’s Mother. Therefore, God as man has a mother. If we think clearly and have reasonable judgment, we can accept the statement that God could have become a man by other means. He could have come out of a tree or an animal. However, God himself chose a woman to incarnate and be born.
Correct reasoning tells us that God loves humanity, and that is why he was born of a woman. All peoples are represented by that woman whom God chose to become a man. To appreciate humanity is to appreciate that woman; to despise humanity is to despise that woman. Therefore, we can also say, if anyone despises the Mother of God, he also despises humanity. And he lives in severe and grave error until he repents, since contempt for humanity results in contempt for God, who became human.
Ignorance denies that the mission of the Mother of God is subordinate and united to the mission of the Son. But unfortunately, it is here that some with myopic and cloudy reasoning reject this fact, this divine design.
Pure, clear, and uninhibited reasoning can distinguish that the Mother’s mission precedes the Son’s mission as God so arranged. No human being of all times and places can undo what God wanted to build. The building is of God; God himself is the Architect. Can man created by God remake or rebuild in another way what God himself has already designed and built? Let no one gets lost in this matter. Look at what Saint Bernard writes:
“It was fitting that the Virgin should give birth only to God, and it was also fitting that God should be born only of the Virgin. Accordingly, the Creator of humanity, so that he might become a man by being born a human being, had to seek out from among all humankind and designate as his Mother, a woman he knew would be worthy of him and pleasing to him.”
Another way to observe and rightly understand this matter is by reading the Scriptures. There is a sequence of events where we see the Mother and the Son together here on earth. And if the Mother and the Son were together on earth, what makes us think they would not be together in heaven?
The Mother is also an excellent model of a disciple. As a disciple, the Mother is also our sister; she knows the Son very well. She knows him as a Mother does. And she wants us to know Him. She was the first to make Him known. Can you see it now? When looking for a job, your prospective employer may request your personal references from previous employers who are conscious of your past performance. They know you, and they know your weaknesses and strengths. But no one knows you better than your Mother. So, if you ask the Mother of God to help you get to know her Son, she is in a very privileged position and far above — in this sense — from any other human being to help you know her Son, the Son of God. She wants us to know her Son and do everything He tells us.
There is another factor that no one can alter, which is accepted or rejected by each one of us, leading to their respective consequences. Before dying on the cross, the Son hands over his Mother’s care to our brother John; and if John is our brother whom the Son of God gave his Mother as his Mother, who am I to reject the disposition of the Son? Before dying, the Son gave his Mother to John as the Mother of humanity. She is the new Eve, and without her, no one can receive the Son because whoever rejects her also rejects her Son.
