Do Not Forget: God Is with You. He Called You.
By Abba Jimmy: Theology & Science, Theoloscience
Like every day, moment, minute, and hour, present this day to the Lord and present yourself before him on your knees. With your arms raised in adoration, recognize God as our Creator and Father.
Today’s invitation in the Office of Readings says: “Let us adore God because he has created us.”
Look what Saint Ambrose said about the mysteries:
“You have been baptized in the name of the Trinity. You have professed — do not forget — your faith in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Live according to what you have done. By this faith, you have died for the world and have risen for God, and, being buried in that element of the world, you have died to sin and have been raised to eternal life.”
There is a widely used expression that we have all heard or used many times, or they have told us; and it goes like this: “Be yourself.” But today, I tell you a better phrase, let God be God in you. Let God act in you. So, “Be yourself? No. But instead, let God be in you.
Look at the dialogue between God and Moses:
«The cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen how the Egyptians tyrannize them. And now, march, I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you can bring out my people, the children of Israel.”
Moses replied to God:
“Who am I to go to Pharaoh or lead Israel’s children out of Egypt?”
God answered:
“I’m with you; And this is the sign that I am sending you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain” (Exodus 3:10–12).
Who was called to free the enslaved people? Moses. Who performed the task of liberation? God himself through Moses. So, the task you have in front of you, you recognize that it is a lot for you. But you must also acknowledge that God is with you and wants to do this task with and through you. So, trust in God; he called you. He chose you. However monumental the job, God has the power to do it through you. Trust more in God and less in your strength.
Practical advice: Do not despise in your heart any of the Lord’s chosen so that you do not remain sterile until the day of your death. (cf. II Samuel 6:1–23).
